It’s what’s UNDER your roof that counts…

Whether your roof is shingle or tile, it’s what’s UNDER your roof that counts.  To ensure your roof is as storm-proof as possible, you need to confirm that your roofing contractor re-nails the plywood deck during a re-roof. Looking at recent hurricane videos, on many buildings the trusses are intact after the storm, but the plywood decking is gone.  Re-nailing the decking is going to help protect your home from severe damage.  It is also important to use the proper fasteners. A galvanized 8-D nail is required by code, but you want the nail to have a ringed shank. Ring shank nails will add significantly more holding power than just a regular 8-D common nail.
